06/01/2013 around 3 pm (Latvian time) I arrived at the airport in Riga. At the airport I was greeted by a mentor Alise, which was holding a paper with "EVS" letters written on it. When she saw me, I was instantly hugged, which gesture I was very happy. She drove me (specifically: her fiancé) to the temporary apartment in which my new "boss" Ginta lives. I said to Alise I was hungry, and if she can stop anywhere to buy something to eat. She said that Ginta (she is her mother) prepared lunch for me. Both know that I am a vegetarian (what they remembered), so Ginta prepared me accordingly lunch. Also Ginta on my arrival gave me a hug, and I said that I think they (Latvia) have nice gesture. In fact, they usually do not hug "strangers", which means that I have already been accepted as their own. :) Ginta has prepared a traditional soup that is best served cold. Contains red beet, which is cut into slices:
